Kathy M. Scogna spent decades writing the stories of Berks County and the Pennsylvania frontier, and editing and publishing the life energy research of her late husband, Joseph R. Scogna Jr. She passed away in October 2023. Her six award-winning history books and the seventeen-volume Life Energy library remain in print, and this site preserves her work.
Kathy especially enjoyed writing about the frontier days, the Indian cultures, and their meshing with European settlers: herbs and plant life, foods, place names, family and group structure, religious philosophy, and medicines. We have learned much from the native peoples, and her books were well received for saying so with care and evidence.

Kathy touched the lives of many with her boundless love, wisdom, and inspiration. She played a pivotal role in the creation of SAF and Life Energy Research and served as a beacon of strength and unwavering support. She was a mentor, author, editor, historian, devoted mother, grandmother, and a guiding light to all who knew her.
Her profound contributions, alongside her late husband, Joseph R. Scogna Jr., laid the foundation for the SAF Method and countless transformative self awareness books. Along with the wellness endeavors, Kathy also penned numerous historical books based in and around the Berks County, PA area.
As we commemorate her journey into the beyond, we carry forward her legacy, cherishing the wisdom she imparted and the love she shared. Her memory lives on in her writings, in the teachings, and most importantly, in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
